I would highly recommend Sincere Construction

Wow, how many times have I recommended Azem and his team for projects? I’ve lost count. I’ve had a handful of potential clients take a tour of my renovated condo as well as hundreds of people daily who come into my Café, Darwin’s Ltd at 313 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge.

My construction relationship with Azem stared with a simple request to build some bookshelves in my study room. It was beautiful. Then I convinced my condo association to hire him to replace all of our windows throughout the building. Then it was time for my kitchen to be remodeled, but at that point – why not the whole condo?! My home is beautiful. Many of the finer points came at Azem’s suggestion, and not one detail do I regret. I have radiant floor heating in my kitchen and both bathrooms. I have a new shower in my downstairs bathroom where I thought one could not be achieved, and central air conditioning disguised in many clever ways etc, etc.

Finally I was opening a new café, and honestly, it was because of Azem that I felt comfortable taking on the project. I felt safe working with him, and I knew that the project would be brought to completion in a beautiful way. If anyone takes the time to visit this space, the entire upper balcony seating area was Azem’s idea. Within this project there was a complex array of legal mechanical compliance issues as it’s a restaurant. Advanced plumbing and electrical work is not a problem for this team. I would highly recommend Sincere Construction.

It was one of the best decisions I ever made

Being an architect, I am very demanding of contractors. I hired Azem to do work on my new condo after interviewing several other builders, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I needed a lot of work done on a very tight schedule, since I was under the deadline for moving houses, and Azem and his team came through beautifully. The entire project was executed with great attention to detail and generally very high quality of work. The tile job in the bathroom, which included complicated patterning and matching different types of material, was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

I was also appreciative of the fact that Azem stayed within the quoted price and did not come up with any extras for “unforeseen conditions” as is usually the case on renovation jobs. Moreover, the team did a little extra work here and there above the originally agreed upon scope where they saw need for it to deliver quality results. And even though I added some extra scope along the way, the job was still completed on schedule.

I have since recommended Azem to several of my friends and colleagues, and everybod he has worked for has been very happy with the cost and the results. I cannot imagine ever using another team for any of my construction needs.

Help with a total renovation of my new home

In the summer of 2008 I bought a delightful apartment in a co-op building not far from Harvard Square. While the location was without equal and enjoyed lovely views of the Charles, the decor and maintenance of the apartment itself had been neglected since the ‘50’s, with both plumbing and electrical systems that dated to the unit’s original construction in the early years of the last century.

On the recommendation of one of my long standing business partners, I turned to Azem Dervisevic of Sincere Construction for help with a total renovation of my new home. The scope of work included removing and replacing the sagging, ancient ceilings and installing high density mass loaded vinyl acoustical insulation throughout, rewiring the apartment in it’s entirety to meet current codes, installing recessed lighting to modern standards, stripping, plastering, painting and refinishing walls and floors throughout – and that was before installing a thoroughly modern glass and marble bathroom as well as a bright, functional and airy kitchen to gladden the heart of any cook.

For most of the past thirty five years I have worked in and around commercial construction. I’ve hired literally hundreds and hundreds of contractors and subcontractors representing every trade and specialty, not to mention every shade along the ethical rainbow.

While I understand the process of construction very well, my exhausting travel schedule meant that I had, at most, a day every week or two to review progress, scrutinize billings and accounts, and generally ensure that the projects was moving along to my satisfaction. Azem’s military punctuality, obsession with the details not only of construction itself, but with the niceties of client communication, not to mention his constant availability on the phone or via e-mail, made him a pleasure to work with through a project that ran eighteen weeks and came in within two days of estimated completion. Above all, however, my trust in Azem’s organizational and professional abilities, together with my comfort with his ethical standards, made it possible for me to complete a major construction project with virtually no interruption of my otherwise busy business life and travel schedule.

In summary, then, here are my observations:

First and foremost, Azem is smart by any standards, a fundamental character attribute that makes him infinitely easy to work with in every respect.

Second, his pricing is fair. Some prices ran a little higher than I would have estimated, some somewhat less. On balance, his prices were what I should describe as “Right down the middle” – dead fair.

Azem never pushed extra work, materials or services, but didn’t hesitate to advise me when he thought I was making an ill-advised structural or aesthetic decision.

Azem and his crew are considerate of their working environment. As a newcomer in new residential community, he greatly facilitated my relationship with my new neighbors, a number of whom made a point to tell me how considerate Azem and his crew were over the course of a lengthy project. They were clean, quite and unobtrusive, and several chose to engage his services for their own projects large and small after observing the quality of his work in my unit, and the cheerful graciousness of his crews.

I honestly believe that one would be hard pressed to find a more competent, gentlemanly and responsible General Contractor for virtually any job metropolitan Boston.

When you get Azem, you also get his crew

We needed to remodel our master bedroom and bathroom in a 140 year old Victorian in Watertown. Our friends recommended Sincere Construction. Azem Dervisevic stopped by soon thereafter and together, we created a project plan. Azem then created a detailed budget and reviewed each item with us in considerable detail. With this as a starting point, we added certain features, such as subfloor heating under the tiles, and removed others. Within several weeks, his crew came to our house and started to work. All the normal uncertainties of starting up a complex project were nonfactors for us.

Azem managed this process very well.He also helped us with many things beyond traditional contracting. Azem has very good design insight. Given that we have an old house, with unique spaces, it is important to find the balance between form and function. Azem understands this. Together, we developed alternative layouts for the bathroom, visited fixture stores, and discussed how the layout, tiles, lighting, fixtures, and shower glass might all come together in a pleasing whole. Azem also designed custom shelving for our master closet that resulted in much finer materials and a more pleasing design than what one would get, for the same money, from higher end closet remodeling companies.

Having worked with a number of other contractors over the years, Azem is far more sophisticated in terms of design and at the same time, knows all the necessary building codes for construction, electricity, and plumbing and conforms strictly to them.

When you get Azem, you also get his crew. They are like his extended family. They were a pleasure to have in the house, as well as very talented and detailed in various trades, same for his electrical and plumbing subcontractors. His tile guy is a magician.

In sum, we would use Sincere Construction again for another project without a moment’s hesitation.

The issues will be managed quickly and professionally

I own a 100-year old Cambridge Victorian building that I remodeled in 1982 into offices. It has always been difficult to find good tradesmen to maintain the building – that is until I met Azem Dervisevic of Sincere Construction.

He has done a great amount of work for me to upgrade and maintain the building, and he has always responded quickly to my needs at a reasonable fee. My professional tenants are thrilled at the quality of his work, and the way he has been flexible enough to accommodate their scheduling needs during construction.

Finally I have the confidence to go away, knowing that if I have any problems, Azem is just a phone call or email away, and the issues will be managed quickly and professionally. This gives me great peace of mind.

His team included a mason, electricians, plumbing, tile installer, plasterers and carpenters

My family had been waiting to renovate the kitchen and bathrooms of out 1935 Tudor house in Newton for nine years. We completely gutter the existing kitchen, enlarged windows for better views and light and opened the kitchen to the adjacent dining room and hall. Without adding any square footage, we were able to greatly expand the functional and visual space of the first floor. Azem and his team at Sincere Construction were the right team for our project. We had a lot of ambitions for our new kitchen and bathrooms but a tight budget. Azem was able to deliver the finished project on time and on budget and now we are enjoying the results.

His team included a mason, electricians, plumbing, tile installer, plasterers and carpenters. They were all a pleasure to work with and were skilled at the sometimes challenging aspects of renovating an older home. It is particularly difficult to move and enlarge windows in a brick home, but Azem’s masons were true craftsmen and did a wonderful job blending in new brickwork with the old. Azem also led us to the locally owned cabinet shop which made and installed our cabinets to our exact specifications.

I am an architect and it is not always easy working with an owner-architect, but Azem was able to work with me and help us achieve the design we envisioned.

I would recommend Azem and Sincere Construction for any residential work

Sincere Construction completed an extensive renovation of our 1870’s North Cambridge Mansard Cottage. They installed new roof, new cedar shingles, gutters, and rebuild a porch. Inside, the kitchen and bath were gutted and rebuilt, new hardwood floor were installed, and doors were relocated. The whole house was rewired, all existing plumbing was replaced, and new high efficiency boiler was installed.

The subcontractors were well managed. And the project was completed in a reasonable amount of time. Since it was quoted as a fixed price job we were able to effectively budget the project. When the inevitable problems, hidden conditions, and new ideas appeared Azem provided us with various options and handled them with out skipping a beat. Additionally he was very helpful in navigating the cities inspection and permitting system.

We are thrilled with our new (old) home. I would recommend Azem and Sincere Construction for any residential work.

It is with absolute confidence that I recommend Sincere Construction

Through a seemingly simple project in terms of demolition, our kitchen and bathroom renovation designs were in fact fairly complicated, requiring new construction, cabinet installation, extensive electrical work, plumbing reconfiguration, tiling, painting and finish work.

By removing several existing walls and relocating a door we were able to dramatically increase our usable space and rejuvenate the overall aesthetic of our home. Being limited by historic preservation guidelines, our plans also required several custom furniture installations including a ten feet window seat and fixed table with 18” cantilevered granite top.

The execution of the project was smooth and attention to detail was immaculate in all aspects. It is with absolute confidence that I recommend Sincere Construction and gladly work with them in the future.

Azem has an excellent crew from remarkable assortment of countries

I have worked with Sincere Construction on two jobs – one a relatively small job – a porch reconstruction and painting and a new roof. It’s not always easy to get a contractor to take on a small job, but Azem did it with great care and detail demonstrating that he believes sincerely (no pun intended) in serving the client in all their needs – from small to big jobs. He shows in the respectful way he treats the client that he knows that their recommendations are his best source of advertisement.

The second job was renovation a storage attic into two bedroom and bath including a dormer punch out. Azem has an excellent crew from remarkable assortment of countries. He maintains excellent relationships with the high quality subcontractors and holds them accountable so that they do excellent work from rough to fine. Work was always done on schedule with great attention to detail. Azem is always available – 24 hours a day and terrifically responsive. When a windstorm kicked all the tarps off the room in mid construction over weekend, he was right on it in the pouring rain.

Azem was always on time with appointments

I approached Sincere Construction after a recommendation from my bank’s vice president. Azem, the owner, worked with me in assessing my needs and was very useful in providing input on best practices and guidance on how to perform a massive re-transformation of my condominium in a manner that had to be non-intrusive as my wife and I were living in the unit during construction. From the first meeting, Azem was always on time with appointments, proposals, and budgets. At the start of construction, the crew of Sincere Construction was courteous, polite and considerate of my wife’s and my needs and privacy. They showed up every morning on time and were careful with our possessions and our unit. They treated our unit and us with respect and made the process less stressful than I expected.

The work was done on time, on budget and with care and precision. As an architect, I know that this is rare, very rare indeed. I would not hesitate using Sincere Construction for any future renovation or construction.

I would recommend Sincere Construction to anyone

Sincere Construction transformed our baths and especially our kitchen. A re-design (done by Azem) and new materials gave our kitchen more space and a much, much prettier look. New materials shower and tub transformed our baths. Azem helped me pick materials, which we had never done before. We got things we were delighted with at the best price.

The work was top-notch, done on time, and in budget. The workers were on time, they helped us live with the construction as pleasantly as possible, are very courteous – in fact, great guys.

Sincere solved the problems in our kitchen – shabby materials, bad design, and horrible cold in winter (bad construction, no insulation) and made it a delightful place to be in and cook.

The price was fair, the work on time, and on budget. I would recommend Sincere Construction to anyone. In fact, we are having them do more work, as are three of our neighbors.

I don’t think you can find a better and more reasonably priced contractor in town

We were able to see the work that Azem was doing at my neighbor’s condo and decided to hire him. My neighbor is an architect and I trusted her judgment on construction workers.

We had a very outdated bathroom that needed to be redone. Azem was very good at listening to our needs and desires for the bathroom, then he made recommendations and adjustments and a plan was made. He was extremely courteous, generous with his knowledge and professional at all times. The plan was executed accordingly. He was very helpful at maximizing the space, finding the good ways to make it the least expensive but above all making it look exquisite. I don’t think you can find a better and more reasonably priced contractor in town!

Sincere Construction can highly recommended and did not disappoint

When I bought a building built in 1924 in Dedham Square, I realized I had a very big and complicated project on my hands. I wanted to update the entire building, but retain its soul and character. Sincere Construction can highly recommended and did not disappoint.

Under the command of Azem Dervisevic, the team tackled every aspect of the project including building out a bookshop and cafe, building out a new restaurant from a former pharmacy, and renovating nine office suites on the second floor, as well as replacing all systems throughout the building including the roof.

Azem and his team are hard working, creative, and flexible, as well as talented and skilled.
